ASHER MITTENS
Chunky and warm fingerless mittens knitted in the round in 2/2 rib. 

Workflow
The mittens are knitted with 4 strands of yarn held together in 2/2 rib in the round with magic loop technique. CO for the cuff and work in the round until desired length. Set stitches aside for the thumb and continue in the round until desired length before BO. Move the thumb stitches back to the working needle and finish with a couple of rounds before BO.

Measurements
Circumference: 16 (18) cm
Length: 30 (32) cm - or desired length
The finished mittens are very elastic and will fit an underarm with a circumference up to approx. 24 (28) cm

Gauge
20 sts x 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm in rib stich (k2, p2)
Measure gauge without stretching the fabric

Recommended needles
Circular needles 6 mm, 60 cm

Other accessories
Darning needle

Recommended yarn
4 skeins of Soft Alpaca from Hobbii (50 gr = 165 m)
or
3 skein of Highland Wool from Hobbii (100 gr = 175 m)
together with 1 cone of Ito Kin Gin (25 gr = 300 m)

Dark Grey version: Knitted with 2 strands of Soft Alpaca col. Black (07) and 2 strands of Soft Alpaca col. Charcoal (06)

Brown / Glitter version: Knitted with 3 strands of Highland Wool col. Ash Tree Bark (39) and 1 strand of  Ito Kin Gin col. pink blue.

PATTERN
Step 1
Cast on 32 (36) sts loosely.
Place a SM at the beginning of the round.
Knit rib *k2, p2* in the round using Magic Loop technique until work measures 24 (25) cm or desired length. 

Step 2
Place 6 (8) sts for the thumb on a piece of thread. Cast on 2 (4) sts on the needle = 28 (32) stitches for the hand.
Continue knitting in the round following the rib pattern until the hand measures 6 (7) cm or desired length. 
BO loosely. 

Step 3
Place the 6 (8) sts on the working needle.
Pick up 4 (6) stitches on the mitten = 10 (14) stitches on the thumb.
Place a SM in the middle of the picked up sts. The round begins here:
Size 1 - Work 4 rounds like this *k2, p2, k2, p2, k2* 
Size 2 - Work 5 rounds like this *k2, p1, k2, p2, k2, p2, k1, p2* 
BO loosely.

Weave in loose ends.
Gently soak mittens and leave flat to dry.
