About

Herbert is a one-woman knitwear atelier, run by me, Maria Sølvtofte.
I am a textile designer based in Copenhagen, working from a deep-rooted curiosity for hand knitting, fibers and colors.

I design knitwear patterns for men and women and I like to explore both simple, clean designs as well as more intricate designs.

Patterns are written in American English, but I’ll add Danish and German translations soon.

Right now I focus on patterns but with time I will add one of a kind handknitted pieces to the webshop.

Why Herbert? Herbert was my grandfather’s name. He was a gentle presence in my life, always supportive of my creative endeavours. He was also a very well-dressed man, and together with my grandmother, they formed a wonderfully stylish couple who sparked my fascination with fashion and textiles.
